With over a decade mated to multiple sclerosis, and the last four years a full-time wheelchair user, I can't overemphasize how important this little doodad is to my relative autonomy. With little sense of balance, but decent remaining upper body strength, this, my transfer board and a little prayer allows me to do an unassisted transfer. Even if your upper body strength is weakened, the BedCane will give you and your caregivers some needed help. I use it on a standard full-sized bed with a headboard... a squishy mattress and low half bedrail hospital bed hindered more than helped. Best of fortune to you and your loved ones.

And just as easy of a concept!
I love this product for my mom, it's smaller and less confining than a bed rail,or other smaller stand assist products.
Does the job with assisting her up to sitting and standing.
Very sturdy material. The softness of the handle makes it warm to the touch and safe against bumping.
Easily visible against the neutral colors of her room.
Saves my back which is important for all 24/7 caregivers.
Easy to assemble and install.
THE best price through Amazon, (savings on shipping).
I just can't say enough good things!

This even works well on a 'hospital type' bed where the head and feet elevate. My mom loves her BedCane and uses it every day. It's made a big difference in her mobility. Well worth the investment.

My mom is 86 and has fallen 3 times in the past 2 years - each time requiring about 3 months of a stay at a Rehab center in a nursing home. She has a 20 year old Craftmatic bed, and I was trying to find something that would serve as a bedrail for her to help her get up during the night. I searched around and finally found the Standers BedCane. Her bed folds in order to rise, so it was difficult finding something that did not interfere with the old mechanism of the bed. The BedCane is small, so it does not get in her way and was very easy to attach securely. I feel so much more at ease knowing she has this for her to hold onto as she rises out of the bed. It is great!

I purchased this BED CANE when I got home from the hospital after my hip replacement. I had strained all the muscles in my abdomen trying to get up out of bed, and my arms were not that strong post op. I am only 59, much younger than most hip patients.
I paid extra for shipping and it came 2 days later. It is excellent and my stomach strain is gone. I do not use the pocket now, but plan on attaching it today. It helps with safety, and I am so pleased. It is a perfect size for anyone.
P.S. Don"t go skydiving when you are young and dumb!!
Thank you

I am 81 and overweight, suffering from osteoarthritus, severe disk problems as well as spinal stenosis. I purchased one BedCane about five years ago and used it on a queen sized bed. I grew very dependant on it to get out of bed to the point of being concerned about what I would do if the joint snapped. I considered buying a reserve but did not because I now believe it is indestructable! I never had need for the strap finding the ability to adjust its location while making the bed of great value.
Now, my worsening condition and restless sleep forced me into a single bed. I now require frequent movement including turnovers to lessen pain. I found a second BedCane the answer. I insert it from the other side positioning it exactly opposite. Surprisingly, the excess length of the base provides two benefits. The overhang provides room for me to make my own bed using my walking cane rubber tip to tighten bed clothes and the crook to tuck in the crevasses. The added span is just right for my current shoulder condition. Should that worsen, I checked to see if a closer diagonal positioning would work. I tried it two nights with no difficulty except more difficulty in bedmaking. The new addition of the organizer is of little use to me now so I slide it forward to give me adequate grasp. Still no need for the straps.
One great product. Two is definitely better than one for needed movement in bed to reduce pain.

My father, who had a stroke several years ago, has very limited mobility on one side, and recently after a stint in the hospital he came home and was having difficulty getting in and out of bed and discomfort while sitting in bed watching television. The BedCane makes getting up from bed much easier, and he also uses it to hold onto when he pushes himself up in bed to sit up higher, and he rests his arm on it while sitting in bed.
He is delighted with the BedCane, as is my mother -- it is very sturdy and easy to install. I would highly recommend it.

Easy to "install", a great help getting in & out of bed as well as helping one to roll over.
It has a little movement (which could have been prevented by another drilled hole) but is stable enough not to effect its benefit. I would purchase it again in a heartbeat!

I am a physical therapist and have recommended this device to countless people, both patients and their spouses. It works great and can be positioned very easily to make getting into and out of bed easier and also serves as a warning as to where the edge of the bed actually is. This is much safer and more stable than the nightstand which many people seem to use.

Installing it was a cinch (if you can easily lift up your mattress). It has a bit of give (slightly wobbly) but it is firm. I'd say as long as there is no way for the person using it to flip over the entire mattress (for instance a frail old woman and a heavy queen mattress) then there's no problems with it. The little side pouch that it comes with works great for glasses, phones, TV clickers, and small books. It makes the bed skirt and comforter look a little funky (due to straps and the comforter/skirt not laying properly) but some quick alterations will make them look fine again.
