Great product! Fast delivery, just take it out of the box, clamp it on the tub and you're good to go. Very stable and you can put it in the best place along the tub to accommodate your patient's mobility limitations. I'm a rehab therapist who bought this to help with showering safety after my hip replacement and liked it so much that I bought one for my parents' tub, and will recommend this product to my patients in the future.

We bought this to use when older relatives visited. We wanted to give them the security of a handrail while using the shower, but didn't want to change our custom tile in the bathroom. This is a very sturdy, well made product. It is easy to set up and to remove. Provides our visitors that extra feeling of safety. In fact, we will take it with us on car trips with older relatives to use in hotel rooms. Highly recommend this product for anyone who might have visitors needing extra shower support.

I bought this for my toddler, and it's a well-made, solid product. I installed it on the tub wall in one minute, and I leaned on it to test it, and the bar doesn't budge or slip. This thing is the real deal, not like some of the other flimsy childproofing and child-safety bars I've seen online. I would recommend this product to any parent looking for the best safety bar for the tub.

We needed something to assist my elderly mother who is living with us. My children use the same bathroom, so I needed something strong but relatively unobtrusive. This bar is very sturdy and very well made, as other reviews have mentioned. However, it only fit on the narrowest part of the side of our bathtub (the middle). Measure your bathtub before you order--it will only fit 6" wide, not the 7" in the description. If it will fit your tub, it is a perfect product: It is easy to install and remove and will not mar your tub. It does not interfere with our shower curtain configuration--liner on the inside of the tub, curtain on the outside. I did a lot of research before I purchased, and I am very pleased with this product.

My father came to visit and I was looking for a few products that would make his time here a little more comfortable. My father only recently became incapacitated, so I'm new to what products are available. This was one the the items I selected. And it was a great decision. It installed in less than a minute. No great strength or tools are necessary for the installation. And it's easily moveable if it's in the way of anybody. If you feel you need two handrails to hold onto, then you can easily install two. Much cheaper than a professional alternative. And because of it's size and durability, it can safely travel with you. I gave it to my dad for when he travels anywhere. This is a great idea, and it's super sturdy.

You can read the other reviews telling you about whether or not this bathtub bar will fit your tub and, if it will, how sturdy it is.

I just thought I would mention that after buying the product, I decided that it was just too likely that, with wet/soapy hands, I might lose my grip on the device when getting out of the tub. So I purchase some bicycle handlebar tape and wrapped it around the entire metal handle. The particular handlebar tape that I used was this:

You could use other less expensive handlebar tape for the same purpose.

By the way, I placed the bathtub bar (on the outside tub wall, of course) midway between the head and foot of the tub. I put it there so the device could be easily reached irrespective of whether I am getting up from a bath or stepping out after a shower.

The bath tub device was very helpful for my mother in getting into and out of the tub, which has been problemmatic for her with arthritic knees. It was very easy to install, and can be located anywhere along the top of the tub where she can gain the leverage needed to more safely use the tub.

Fast delivery on this Medline Bathtub Bar. I was surprised at how heavy duty and sturdy this tub bar was, I installed it in less than a minute, no tools, and it is as solid as my cast iron tub. Not only is it a great help getting out of the tub, it is close enough to the commode to give you a safe and secure boost.
I would recommend it to anyone who is getting a little weak in the knees.

This is an easy solution when getting out of the tub is difficult. There is no assembly involved; the bar comes out of the box ready to go on the side of the tub and a few turns of the handle have it ready to use. We got this for use when my mother-in-law came to visit, and it has the added advantage of being removable when not needed. I was impressed with how securely it held on to the side of the tub..not a wobble. Do, however, measure your tub before ordering to make sure it will fit. I am very satisfied, a simple and easy solution to our problem.

I bought this item for my mother, who has a hard time walking, let alone getting into a bathtub. It was a snap to install, and is rock-solid, I mean it actually feels like part of the tub. It's heavy metal piping also, so I don't have to worry about her breaking any plastic pieces. Great value for the price, especially when peace-of-mind is thrown into the deal.

I am gearing up for knee surgery and bought this item to help me in the shower. It clamps easily to the tub and is very sturdy. I like the fact that I do not have to install a permanent rail in my limited tub/shower space. An added advantage that I did not expect is that I can adjust the position of the bathtub bar in such a way that it will also help me to get up from the toilet, eliminating the need to buy toilet safety rails. I am very pleased with this product. And service was amazing--it arrived in four days with super-saver shipping.

Bought this item for my elderly mother. I was concerned with her ability to safely get into and out of the tub. The item was a very quick and easy install. No special tools or ability required. Instructions were straight forward and very simple.

She was easily able to maneuver in and out of the tub without assistance thus maintaining her modesty and dignity. An important part of having aging people around.

The safety bar opened enought to grip a 7-1/4" thick contoured garden tub. The grip has stayed secure, and on the one occassion when I slipped and put my entire 240 pound weight on it, the device stayed in place and allowed me to safely catch myself with the top hand grip. Bottom line is that it worked perfectly.

I bought this rail for my mom's bathtub. She's 82, very unsteady on her feet, and she just moved in with me. She scoffed at it when it arrived, but I put it on the tub, and now she can't live with it. It's strong and sturdy, a piece-of-cake to install, and i now have peace of mind whenever my mom is bathing.

I recently ordered this for my mother. She recently fell and hurt her back and was afraid to get in and out of the tub. This came more quickly than promised and was well made...well worth the money. My mother wrote us a thank you which I have included in my review: "Just a note to say a big THANK YOU for the bathtub handle. Last night I felt awful because I tried to stand and sing in the choir at Mass. I hurt so badly. So I went up and filled the tub and got in thanks to the handle. I sat in the hot water for 30 min. and then got out -- again thanks to the handle. I went straight to bed and had the best night's sleep in a long time. The warm water was so helpful.

I know I would not have tried to sit in a tub without the assurance I could get in and out. The handle was firm, did not slip at all and gave me confidence I could haul myself up without falling."

you can't tell from the picture, but this bar is made of mostly metal. the only plastic part is the knob, and although it feels like it will snap off (instructions emphasize NOT to overtighten), it didn't. the bar attaches very easily to the side of the tub, and feels very sturdy. it supports up to 250lbs, but is not meant to be used for leverage (pulled sideways).

the side of my tub is thinner (in width) in the middle than on the ends, so when i fixed the bar onto it, the inside jaw was slightly skewed to compensate for the sloping. it still holds very well, no wiggling.

the grip on the bathtub bar can be very slippery, especially with soapy hands. i am thinking about getting a grippy sticker or something to put along the handle. this might make it a little safer for me.

overall, this is a great product for the price!

This product works great. I was trying to find one locally and was not having much luck either finding one or finding one that was reasonably priced so I ordered this one. Then a few days later I saw the same item at Fleet Farm for a lower price. Who would have thought to check at a store like Fleet Farm??

This Product was well made and very sturdy...not just flimsy plastic. After we put in the transfer chair in the tub there just wasn't room for it on the tub edge so we opted for the suction grab bars which have worked great! This just wasn't the right product for us.

Got this bathtub bar for an older tub - oops - it doesn't tighten far enough for that style. Since we needed it immediately, I kept it and put a block on the outside side of the tub to shim it. I'm not sure about the angle being perpendicular to the side of the tub but so far it is doing its job.
There's not much else to say about it except that if you find that it doesn't tighten enough to not budge even a hair, return it. Ever so slightly loose and it will cause more damage than it prevents.

The description says 7 inch tub. The instructions accurately say 6 1/2 inch, and that made all the difference in fitting my tub (which is just a small fraction above 6 1/2 inches).

The product looks well made and solid.

I'll delete this review once Amazon updates the specs to show the proper size.

The previous reviews are correct. This does not fit on a 7 inch tub. The insert with the bar says 6 inches.
It does appear to be a good product- very sturdy.
It is heavy and I am not looking forward to how much it is going to cost to return it.
