1.) Low cost, high quality product

I recently purchased this lumbar support cushion as a gift for my father this past Christmas. I am a physical therapist, and have over 5 years of experience dealing primarily with the mechanics and mechanisms of low back pain and disc dysfunction. I have tried out many cushions over the years, and from my experience, this product is as good as any higher-priced product of the same intent. The composite board insert allows for a consistent shape to be maintained, so the cushion does not yield as easily to body weight over years of consistent use, and the burgundy cover is removable and washable. It is also an excellent size for the average-sized person (my dad is approximately 5'9", ~170 lbs.). It provides good side-bolster support as well for an added feeling of comfort around the outiside of the lower back. I highly recommend this cushion when placed in comparison of other similar products. Most of the other products out there that are in contention with this one are composed of unnecessary additives, like a massager, ribbing on the contours of the cushion, etc. I've found that simply maintaining good posture (not only in sitting, but all activity) allows for so much more freedom from pain and simple ease back into daily life. Again, I highly recommend this product to anyone out there searching for an answer to help alleviate low back pain; however, I must caution that commercial products are NOT a cure-all to one's problems. It's always possible to alleviate the pain and symptoms, but other steps are necessary in terms of FIXING the problem. I highly recommend seeking out professional care from a physical therapist, as it is more than likely necessary that one would need (at least) proper education and intevention to help one to get better.

Like many people beyond the age of 50, I frequently experience some degree of lower back pain. I purchased this cushion for my chair in my office. The benefit is twofold: my back feels much better throughout the workday and I feel the amount of discomfort I experience away from work is decreased.

I've tried several lumbar cushions from Amazon and this one is the most comfortable, despite being so inexpensive.

I only wish it didn't have the "wings" on the side.

I have two herniated discs (L4, L5) in my lower back and went through PT during the month of December. The physical therapist stated that I needed to constantly strive to keep the curve in my lumbar supported along with exercise. I showed him this cushion and he gave his 100% approval. I used it for a month and liked it so much I got two more. One for the car, the LaZboy, and the computer chair. Why not! Look at that price! The best part is it is now the end of January and I know that I will recover thanks to exercise and the support I've been receiving when sitting and using this wonderful product.

I teach indoor cycling classes and work a regular office job, so between my horrible posture at my desk and all the hunching over I do on the bike, my back HURTS. After a lot of research and debating over spending extra $$$ on certain supports, I decided on this one. It is GREAT. My back aches are gone and sitting in my desk chair at work is now actually a comfort. I love it so much I bought one for my husband!

Love this item to death. I purchased it as a gift for my mother that has a bad back and hips, so sitting is most often then not painful. She loves and feels completley relaxed. Its beter then those memory foam ones that just crush under weight, this lumbar pillow actually supports you in comfort. I highly recomened this product.

This lumbar support is extremely helpful for all back problems. It is attractive, compact, easy to wipe clean and can be used in my car as well as on the floor when I am attempting to stretch my back to balance the bending forward motion with the reverse motion. It is especially helpful when sitting at my PC. I recently injured my back playing golf and have come to respect the importance of good "posture" in maintaining a strong back. My daughter-in-law also bought me a foot rest, and as I sit at my PC, balanced on my foot rest along with my lumbar support, I feel immediate relief. I am glad to have this as an aid to my aching back.

I have two cushions of this type. One with the composite board and one without. This one is my favorite. Works perfectly with my wooden desk chair. I like the composite board insert. It adds more support and sturdiness. If you are undecided about getting one with or without the insert, I suggest getting this one. You can remove the insert if you don't like it. Tried using them in cars, just doesn't seem to work with already bolstered seats especially for getting the car seat situated with the pedals and steering wheel for driving. For home or office use though, it is great. Two of my friends have ordered one as well.

I have a bad back from an attic ladder collapse several years ago. This little baby keeps firm support all day (10 hrs) at work, and I don't feel like I need a massage when I get home. Love the firm support from the composite insert.

I bought this as a gift and it's so good I have to buy one for myself too. Provides much more support than other lumbar cushions because of the board. It feels like you are being lifted so the pressure is suddenly removed from your spine. A great product for the price.

My wife asked me to order this in hopes it would relieve her stiff back. We watch TV nightly in recliners. I suspect the recliners do not provide proper back support, and this product does. Also, and importantly, the price is right to risk on a mail-order item.

I purchased this lumbar cushion to complement a coccyx cushion I had purchased. When this cushion is placed properly, it provides excellent lumbar support, and is quite comfortable. However, the cushion is oddly shaped, in that it won't easily attach to any of my chairs. The silly little black strap on the back of the cushion does not add any sort of stability to the cushion, so it slides as I sit. It also falls off of my chair whenever I stand up. Aside from the hassle of constantly repositioning the cushion, or picking it off the floor (which may be difficult for someone with back pain), this lumbar support is excellent. Accompanied by a coccyx cushion, this cushion is wonderful for my back. I do recommend it to anyone in need of lumbar support, regardless of the cushion's inability to remain in one place.

This is a great product, but it is poorly designed. I plan on keeping it for a very long time, and find it to be quite helpful. If you do not mind picking it up off the floor and repositioning it every time you sit, then you should buy it. It is definitely worth the money, and will prove to be invaluable to your back.

The Duro-Med Relax-A-Bac Lumbar Cushion with Composite Board insert is doing a great job for my wife after her recent back surgery. The board insert gives her a better support in her rocking chair and especially in our vehicle. Without the board it is just another pillow, with the board makes a whole lot of difference and would encourage anyone wanting a lumbar cushion to give this one a try.

I keep this in the car. It feels GREAT. But the fabric cover slips around a lot after only a couple of months, and I haven't yet figured out how to keep it in place.

For me this cushion was too hard and somewhat too big, tall. I'm 5'7. Also it takes up much of the seat so if you have a small seat, forget it, because then you will be sitting on the edge of your seat. I felt stiff in the back when using it and would of liked a softer make. The lumbar shape is good though. Great for a larger person.

The contoured shape of this lumbar pillow is pretty good; however, I found the construction cheap and the stiff back prevented it from being used in any type of curved seat (car, high-back office chair) as it did not sit flush, sticking out quite a bit.

If you intend to use this with some sort of flat backed chair then I would consider it; otherwise, the search continues.

24.) Useless with office chairs

I bought this to use with my office chair. To my disappointment, the cushion is so big that it takes up most of the seat! I'm forced to sit on the edge of my chair, which is very uncomfortable. I tried it on a couple other kinds of office chairs, and it was the same story each time.

Maybe this cushion would work well if you have a chair with a fairly deep seat, so you can still sit back against the cushion. But for any of the fairly standard office chairs I tried it with, it was impossible to use!

I purchased this product for my husband who has lower back pain caused by disc degeneration. He planned to use it while sitting in our living room lounge chairs. The pad turned out to be very uncomfortalbe for use in the easy chair. First the wings of the pad poke him in the side..... pretty much poke him in his ribs and after an evening using it to watch TV his ribs were sore. Also the pad is so thick, that when using it in the easy chair his upper back and head cannot be supported by the chair back because you are so far from the chair back due to the thickness of the pad. My husband is 5' 10" and weighs 115lbs, so he is of average build.

This pad does provide support in my car seats which have zero lumbar support and in straight back dinning room table type chairs. But don't buy it if you want to use it on a sofa or easy chair.

I did not like this product. It was uncomfortable to use. I thought it may have been the board insert so I took it out but that did not matter. The product is too firm and does not fit the curves of the lower back well.

This is a second-grade product or it would be right to say its not even a product. After ordering I recieved it after 12 days and there was no tracking available. Cushion is very stiff even after talking out the back support out.
This cushion intensified my back problem. It was very difficult to get this placed in correct posture.
